London College of Business and Accountancy

Welcome to London College of Business and Accountancy (LCBA). PLEASE NOTE THE OPEN DAYS ARE IN: AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER 2009.

Accommodation

If you have relatives or friends who are willing to stay with you for the first few months while you are settling every thing and adapting to the UK life style then we would encourage you to go and live with them. They will help you adapt quickly and help you overcome home sickness.

LCBA will be happy to provide you every assistance in finding suitable accommodation but cannot guarantee it. There are various type of accommodations commonly availed by overseas students in UK i.e. Host Family, Shared or Private accommodations.

Host Family Accommodation

Host family accommodation is the most popular choice, offering the best value for money and it is easy to arrange. Hostels and residences are very popular too, mainly because of their low cost and central location but they can get full very quickly, particularly during the summer. We do advise you to book as early as possible in order to have the best choice.

It may be possible to find accommodation for you at short notice, but it is advisable to inform us of your requirements at least four weeks before your date of arrival.

Host Family

You stay as a paying guest in a friendly family home.

We will do our best to find a family most suited to your needs. Please remember, however, that you are a guest in a private home and you should not expect the service of a hotel.

Accommodation is normally arranged for a minimum of one week from Saturday or Sunday, especially in the summer. You will need to inform the family of your time of arrival to make sure the family is at home to welcome you.

Staying with a host family is an important part of your experience in London. It offers excellent opportunities for you to practice your English and to learn about British life and culture.

Family homes are usually located in residential areas in Zones 2, 3 and 4. There are six travel zones in London. Our college is in Zone 4. We advise you to purchase a weekly or monthly Travel Card (photograph required), which offers unlimited travel on buses, underground and some railways. The cost of weekly travel pass  varies, depending on number of  travel zones, for detailed information see www.tfl.co.uk .

Standard accommodation will offer bed and breakfast and usually use of the kitchen and laundry service. Superior accommodation may offer private bathroom facilities and are usually closer to the city. Some families may offer an evening meal or packed lunch for an additional fee.

Please note that some restrictions such as code of conduct and conditions may apply. Costs and terms are available upon request, for further information on housing see www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/newcomerstotheuk/
