About ACCA
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is one of the world’s leading accountancy organisations. Its members are internationally recognised in public practice, industry, commerce and the public sector.ACCA membership also allows you to obtain status as a Registered Auditor.
Entry Requirements
Professional Examination Route (PER)
The minimum entry requirements for students wishing to register with ACCA under the Professional Examination Route (PER) are as follow:The applicant must be 18 years old and meet at least one of the following certificate criteria:
2 ‘A’ levels and 3 GCSEs (5 separate subjects including English and Maths).
CAT First five papers (complete).
AAT (UK) Intermediate (complete).
BTEC National Certificate (any subject).
NVQ Level 3 or 4 (any subject).
Degree (from a recognized institution (in any subject)
ACCA Certificate Diploma in Accounting & Finance (complete).
An overseas qualification equivalent to the above.
For those who are unable to enter via the PER, there are two other methods of entry:
a) Mature Student Entry Route (MSER)
For entry to ACCA’s Professional qualification via the MSER you must be over 21 years old. You must also pass papers 1.1 & 1.2 within 2 years from the date of your first eligible examination session.
b) Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)
Applicants who are 16 years or elder can complete ACCA’s CAT qualification and will be eligible for direct entry to Part 2 of ACCA’s professional examinations.
Exemptions
Relevant graduates may be awarded some exemptions for papers in parts 1 and 2.
An exemption fee must be paid ACCA for each exemption awarded. Contact ACCA for further information.

Registration with ACCA
All students who wish to sit ACCA examinations must:
1. Register as a student with ACCA
2. Register to sit specific exams with ACCA (you will be sent an exam entry form once you have registered with ACCA).
Enrolment on an LEC course does not register you with ACCA.
Key dates
ACCA examinations are held in June and December of each year. You must register as an ACCA student and complete an examination entry from before you attempt the examination.

Computer-based exams (CBE)
Computer-based Exam (CBEs) is available for Papers 1.1 and 1.2 only of the Professional Scheme. Please contact the College for details of CBE dates.The computer-based exam fee is normally about £40 per paper.
Exam regulations
-- You may sit between one and four papers per exam sitting.
-- You have 10 years to complete all exam papers from date of registration.
-- You must complete all Part 1 papers before sitting any Part 3 papers.
-- Papers must be sat in numerical order unless you have been awarded an exemption.
-- For part 3, two optional papers must be chosen and at least one completed before the core papers are sat.
-- The three core papers must be sat together.
-- They may be attempted alongside an optional paper or a remaining Part 2 paper provided one optional paper has been passed.
BSc in Applied Accounting
Please note that students should register with Oxford Brookes University before they start the course in order to qualify for Oxford Brookes BSc in Applied Accounting.
ACCA Full-time Courses
Course Options
LEC offers a variety of full-time courses options which are ideal if you are not in full-time employment or are between jobs.These courses are particularly suitable for overseas students and comply with UK home Office Student Visa requirements, provided you study for a minimum of three papers at a time.
Course Structures
One term course (3 months)
This intensive one term course commences immediately after the exam results are released.
It is the perfect solution if you like to work to a more condensed timetable.
Your course will usually consist of:
15 three hour sessions PLUS
4 three hour revision sessions
Two terms Course (5 months duration)
This course provides in-depth, comprehensive tuition split into two terms followed by a revision course. It allows you to learn at a steady pace with time to consolidate your knowledge.
Revision Course for full-time Students
Revision courses are included as part of your course fee for all ACCA full-time courses except the re-take course.
Revision courses run approximately two weeks before the ACCA exams and are dedicated to providing you with exam essentials such as question practice, key topic reviews and advice on exam techniques.
Full-time re-take Course (3-months)
This three month course is specifically designed for those who have marginally failed in the previous exam sitting.
The aim of the course is to give you a more in-depth knowledge of the syllabus and focus on exam technique.
